Business is good for connector makers

Business for connector manufacturers is a rollin’ and backlogs are rising. But, many still doubt a sustainable recovery.

Recent survey results from Connector Supplier show that some concerns exist among connect manufacturers about the possibility of a double-dip recession. 9% of those who answered believed in a new recession in 2011, 23% saw it as a possibility, while 40% believed it to be unlikely and 17% saw no signs for a recession at all. The rest was somewhere in the middle. Market researcher Bishop & Associates estimates 2010 sales for the electronics connector market to reach USD 42.5 billion (not included are cable assembly sales), a considerable increase of 23.6% from 2009 figures. The total interconnect market for connector manufacturers in 2009 reached to USD 109 billion. For 2010, the researchers forecast a sales increase of 25.3%, with sales reaching USD 136.8 billion.
