Xilinx lays of 130 in Dublin

Chip maker Xilinx will lay off 130 employees at its unit in Dublin, Ireland.

Some of the affected jobs will be transferred to Xilinx's unit in Singapore while others will be outsourced. Xilinx has approximately 400 employees at its unit in Dublin. Major part from the jobs that will be affected are within the manufacturing and testing operations, said RTE. Some administrative and support jobs will also be affected, while research & development and engineering jobs will remain in Dublin. The lay offs will take place over the next nine months. Staff members will also be offered an appropriate package by the company.
