German semiconductor market continues to decline
At the beginning of the current year, situation and outlook for the German semiconductor market continues to decline, reports the German ZVEI Association Electronic Components and Systems.
January sales of semiconductors in Germany was 7% below the previous month's figures (dollar basis). Compared to the corresponding month last year, sales fell by 37%. On euro basis, sales in January 2009 were 24% lower than in January 2008.
The book-to-bill ratio, an indicator of the medium-term trend, had decreased further still - to 0.78:
