Foxconn & Epson first in Taiwan-issued patents
Foxconn & Epson ranked first in Taiwan issued patents in 2007.
Foxconn, Taiwan-based EMS-provider and Seiko Epson ranked first, according to statistics released by the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Taiwan. Taiwan issues its patents in three different categories: invention, utility model and design. Foxconn was granted a total of 1117 Patents (invention 450 – utility model 518 – design 149). Industrial Technology Research Institute with 535 Patents came second (invention 524 – utility model 7 – design 4). Epson came first for foreign and multinational recipients of Taiwanese Patents with a total of 351 (invention 335 – utility model 1 – design 15). Second came Sony with 347 (invention 292 – utility model 0 – design 55).
