Abacus set up LED division with Osram

AbacusLED is intended to help customers keep up with developments in led technology. It is a partnership effort with Osram, and also backed by Everlight, Texas Instruments, National Semiconductor, ST Microelectronics, Power Integrations, 3M and Aavid Thermalloy. Mike Hall, Abacus Group led business development specialist, said: “The pace of innovation in this domain is huge. Over the last four years, the efficiency of led lights has quadrupled, so they now match the performance of fluorescent lights and exceed that of halogen.” Abacus Group semiconductor marketing director Glenn Jarrett, added: “With concerns surrounding the efficiency, lifetime, handling and environmental impact of incandescent and long life light bulb technology, we believe leds will provide the lighting solutions of the future.”
