EMC: Applied Physics for Optimal Application Design

In our highly connected world, the smooth operation and communication of electronic devices is of critical importance: They must neither be susceptible to electromagnetic interference, nor become a source of interference themselves. Würth Elektronik supports you in EMC optimization.

The airwaves are getting crowded in the Internet of Things era: With more and more interfaces, more and more devices are communicating with each other. Applications need to become smaller and smaller and yet increasingly powerful. Electromagnetic compatibility becomes a decisive quality factor – a complex area in which even the most experienced developers are likely to reach their limits.

But in practice, EMC is nothing more than applied physics – the interaction of magnetic and electric fields. Understanding how they behave in a specific application, which layouts or component combinations cause recurring problems, and how to eliminate interference, requires a combination of solid expertise, years of experience, and precise measurement technology.

1995: First EMC patent from Würth Elektronik

Würth Elektronik is not lacking in experience; after all, today’s global player first patented a hinged ferrite with a key – in other words an interference suppression component. Since then, we’ve developed a broad portfolio of EMC components and customized EMC services. We share all our experience and expertise with you, our customers. We’re therefore your partner for dependable, EMC-compliant application design, from the idea to the finished application, so you don't have to work on challenges we’ve already solved.

Consulting, testing and knowledge transfer

Würth Elektronik supports you from the initial design and qualification, through to the production of your application. Often, previously unexplainable errors or failures can be eliminated with minor layout changes.

Würth Elektronik even helps its customers to get their products through the EMC test in accordance with Directive 2014/30/EU: Pre-compliance tests are carried out in our own EMC laboratories, such as the Würth Elektronik Hightech Innovation Center, and targeted suggestions for improvement are offered immediately in the event of problems. The actual testing by an accredited laboratory is then just a formality.

We give our customers a clear understanding of electromagnetic compatibility with free events, including many EMC seminars.

Our extensive services, long-standing experience, and a broad product portfolio, puts us in a position to join forces with you to master your EMC-compliant application design throughout the entire product lifecycle. Personally and on-site.

Let's get started together.
