Redbox wants to become a household name

Redbox, which is a customer of EMS provider Flextronics, earlier Solectron, is looking to become a household name in its segment.
The Video kiosk company is owned by McDonald's Ventures, Coinstar and smaller investors. Redbox was launched six years ago in 12 location in the US. In November last year the company installed its 6,000th kiosks. Since its started, 300 employees have been recruited. The 6000th installation has given Redbox more U.S. locations than Blockbuster.

Redbox is the biggest of several companies that rents DVDs for $1 a day from kiosks in stores and restaurants in the US.
