Jabil doubles production capacity at Ukrainian facility
US-based EMS provider Jabil announces that it has officially opened the doors to its expanded facility in Uzhgorod, Ukraine; which effectively doubles the site’s production capacity.

The electronics company started construction on the 20’400 square metre (219’583 square feet) expansion in January last year. And now that it stand complete, the site provides Jabil with 43’664 square metre (470’000 square feet) of manufacturing and warehouse space.
Alessandro Parimbelli © JabilThe expansion, coupled with the opening of a new logistics center in Tiszaújváros, Hungary, in October 2018 (which the company started building back in late 2017) brings Jabil’s footprint in Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) to over 371’612 square metres (4 million square feet) across 22 sites in 14 countries. “As products become smarter, sleeker and faster, our customers require more sophisticated and technologically advanced support throughout the entire life cycle of their products,” says Jabil Executive Vice President, Alessandro Parimbelli, in a press release. “At Jabil we simplify complexity and deliver value. With this expansion in Uzhgorod Jabil significantly increases its capacity to deliver for our customers whilst sustaining growth in Eastern Europe.” The expansion will serve existing customer requirements and create capacity to meet future demand, also representing a significant capital investment in Uzhgorod. Since opening in 2004 the Jabil site in Uzhgorod has produced more than 100 million units for customers across three main global markets: automotive, smart home & appliance and telecommunications. “With this new purpose-built space, coupled with Jabil’s most advanced manufacturing and supply chain technologies, team of professional specialists, and our new IATF Automotive Certification, we look forward to supporting existing and new customers at Uzhgorod long into the future,” adds Jabil Uzhgorod Operations Manager, Sergiy Kartsev. In an email to Everitq, a company spokesperson say that Jabil Uzhgorod now employs around 3'000 people and with the extension of the facilities plans to gradually expand to 5'000.
