Lenovo laying off 3'200
Lenovo's Motorola acquisition a year ago is causing some serious trouble, forcing Lenovo to take drastic measures.
10 percent of the white collar staff at chinese Lenovo will be laid off as a result of Motorolas handset units dragging Lenovo's results down (with close to a 300 million loss for this quarter.)
”Though very difficult, this action will include a reduction in workforce of about 3,200 people (10% of non-manufacturing headcount and about 5% of our total population of around 60,000 people) around the world. This is part of a broader effort to reduce expenses by about $650m in the second half of this year and about $1.35b on an annual basis”, Yuanqing Yang
Chairman & CEO, writes.
