STMicro to invest $500 mln in Crolles2 facility
STMicro plans to invest about $500 million into its Crolles2 facility to increase production capacities, reports EETimes.
The company currently runs the facility at 2700 wafers per week and has bought manufacturing equipment from its former partners – Freescale and NXP. According to EETimes, the company will complete the transaction by the end of July 2008.
It was also stated that STMicro is now looking for possible technology R&D partners.
