This round goes to Intel

A U.S. jury has ruled in favour of Intel in a patent infringement lawsuit the chip maker filed against VLSI Technology LLC.

This comes after a different jury (also in Waco / Texas) on March 2, 2021 ordered Intel to pay VLSI for infringing two other patents once owned by Dutch chipmaker NXP. Price tag then was USD 2.18 billion, although VLSI had sought USD 3.1 billion in damages. Intel already announced that it intends to appeal the verdict. A third trial over similar patented technology is scheduled for June 2021. VLSI had sued Intel in April 2019, alleging that products using their 'Speed Shift' technology infringed patents it now owned, a Reuters article states.
