Monolithic ceramic capacitors on interposer substrates

Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has commenced mass-production of monolithic ceramic capacitors on interposer substrates.
"This is the first time in the world that a monolithic ceramic capacitor has been installed on an interposer substrate as a countermeasure for squealing.

In the design of power supply circuits for various applications such as laptop PCs, cellphones and digital cameras, "squealing" caused by vibration of capacitors is an issue. Murata has recently commercialized a "monolithic ceramic capacitor on an interposer substrate," which consists of a monolithic ceramic capacitor mounted on an interposer substrate. This arrangement enables the interposer substrate to absorb vibration generated in the capacitor, and greatly suppresses the transmission of vibration to the main board.

"Squealing" is suppressed due to the mounting of the monolithic ceramic capacitor on the interposer substrate.
This capacitor has superior characteristics to those of conventional monolithic ceramic capacitors (GJ8 series) , and is lower in profile than the KRM series, making it ideal for mobile devices.

The device is being mass-produced since June 2012.
