Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze lays-off sixty in Poland

Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze, based in Gorzów Wielkopolski (West Poland) has released sixty employees from work.

Thirty employees were dismissed at the end of June, with another thirty at the end of July. Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze Polska is a wire harness producer focused on the the automotive market, serving such customers like Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche. Previously the plant was a part of Volkswagen, named Volkswagen Elektro-Systemy. Marta Andruszkiewicz, Personel Officer in the company, in interview with local Radio Zachód, confirmed the lay-offs but did not reveal the number of employees who would leave. She refused to speak about future downsizing plans in Gorzów. Another source, local news portal named gorzów24.pl, quotes Jarosław Porwich, chief of trade union in the company, who criticised how the company approached lay-offs. “I have some information about future lay-offs plan. The company reduces personel gradually, to avoid group redundancies, which would be connected with additional expenses for reduced personel,” Porwich said.
