Current status of European<br>Lead-Free Soldering 2006
ELFNET has published its third and last annual report on the implementation status of lead-free soldering technology in Europe.
The results discussed in this report are based on a questionnaire distributed from November 2006 to February 2007. The report gives a detailed analysis of the responses with comparisons to previous ELFNET Surveys in 2004 and 2005, resulting in a measure of the dynamics of implementation.
The survey results show that there have already been significant changes in use of different materials for lead-free soldering technology, with the SAC alloy growing in market share, even in wave soldering, and an increasing diversification in lead-free finishes used.
It appears that although 75% of respondents are in sectors either fully or partially exempted from the RoHS Directive, only 25% are still using SnPb technologies.
