Growth in electronic components and assemblies

The German semiconductor market will grow by 11.5 percent to EUR 12.3 billion in 2015. The market for printed circuit boards will increase by 8.3 percent to around EUR 1.5 billion, writes industry association ZVEI.
The market for Integrated Thinfilm Circuits is forecast to show a decrease of just over two percent to EUR 546 million. For the total segment of electronic components (semiconductors, printed circuit boards, integrated thinfilm circuits, electromechanical and passive components), the ZVEI expects predict an increase of 8.5 percent to EUR 19.6 billion for 2015.

For the market of electronic assemblies (in-house manufacturers and electronic manufacturing services provider), an increase of 8.6 percent to EUR 27.8 billion euros is forecast for 2015.

"After the moderate increases reported for 2013 and 2014, almost all the segments have recorded above average increases", explains Dr. Wolfgang Bochtler, Chairman of the ZVEI-Fachverbands PCB and Electronic Systems.

He is optimistic for the current year: "Our companies have the necessary flexibility to cope with the volatile, global economic conflict situation. In addition, our industry and its capacity for innovation become the lead provider needed for the digitization technology."
