Samsung acquires TransChip Israel

Samsung Electronics has acquired Israeli based chip company TransChip Israel Ltd.

Samsung plans to turn TransChip in to one of its R&D centers. Samsung has paid approximately € 48.5 million for the company, The Korea Economic Daily reports. According to the company this is Samsung's first foreign acquisition in the semiconductor segment since 1997, Pravda reports. TransChip specializes in designing, developing, and marketing image sensors, called CMOS sensors.
