Jabil axe jobs in France

EMS provider Jabil plans to cut up to 230 of 514 jobs in Brest, France.
The company will cut the jobs in France and will outsource production of phone switch components to China. The plant in France was a former Alcatel site.

The reason for the decision is that Jabil's customer has decided to transfer the production to Asia, maville reports.

Until June 2002 the plant was Alcatel's. Since the sale of the site, the company had succeeded in finding new customers to diversify its activities, but remained strongly dependent on the multinational Alcatel. According to Maville Alcatel accounted for 97 % of our sales turnover of the fiscal year 2007.
