Sharp: 'we're considering various possibilities'
The rumour mill has kept busy with several media reports about Sharp's plans to spinoff its LCD business. While the company does not deny this, Sharp says it's “considering various possibilities for fundamental structural reforms.”
Sharp's full statements reads as follows:
“On and after April 4, there were several speculative media reports regarding possible spinoff of LCD business and funding from Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ). However, these media reports are not based on Sharp’s announcement.
We are currently considering various possibilities for fundamental structural reforms including LCD business, but there are no fact of specific decisions made at this time.
The new Medium-Term Management Plan is currently reviewed and will be announced around May this year.”
