Samsung Mobile executive mysteriously leaves

Kevin Packingham, chief product officer at Samsung's Mobile division in the U.S., leaves the company at short notice. Rather short notice it might be added.
This rather quick turn of events has caused some rattle in the industry. Why did he leave at such short notice? Samsung only confirmed the departure in an equally mysterious (that is rather short) statement, reading - according to Forbes- as follows:

“Kevin Packingham has departed Samsung Mobile. We thank Kevin for his contributions and wish him well in his future endeavors.”

According to a comment published in Wall Street Journal, Kevin Packingham said he was not forced to leave, but he chose to as his job has become less fun. The reason for this is a shift from an exclusive, market specific focus, towards a single smartphone across the globe, developed in South Korea, he told the newspaper.
