Printed electronics market to reach 9 billion in 2012
The market for printed and thin film electronics will reach $9.46 billion in 2012 according to a new report by research and consultant company IDTechEx.
The IDTechEX report, Printed, Organic & Flexible Electronics Forecasts, Players & Opportunities 2012-2022, predicts that 42.5% of the total market will be predominately organic electronics - such as OLED display modules. Of the total market, 30% will be printed.
Photovoltaics, OLED and e-paper displays are expected to grow rapidly, followed by thin film transistor circuits, sensors and batteries. By 2022 the market will be worth $63.28 billion, with 45% printed and 33% on flexible substrates.
The company said that the study includes devices not yet printed today but which are moving towards being printed.
