Yazaki close down in Tunisia

Workers have staged a series of strikes in the country since the so-called Jasmine Revolution in January. The Tokyo-based company said it already closed the manufacturing facility in Gafsa on Dec. 14 to "secure safety of staff." Local Japanese media reports that Yazakihas already closed another plant in Gafsa and will shift production to a Czech facility in Plzen instead. Yazaki operates 5 manufacturing facilities in the Gafsa region (including the one in Om Larayes), specialising in cable harnesses. Those units - combined - employ around 2'200 staff.
