Elcoteq to lay off in Hungary

EMS-provider Elcoteq is to lay off 700 staff at their Hungarian operations.

EMS-provider Elcoteq, headquartered in Luxembourg, is to lay off 680 staff at their Hungarian manufacturing unit in Pécs, local media reports. Reduction in headcount was expected, union representatives stated in various news reports, however the number had shocked everyone. Consultations with everyone concerned will start within a week. Note: Employers have to state the maximum number of layoffs when registering such a measure. However, the actual number of layoffs could be lower after consultations with unions and employee representatives are finished.
