Intel acquires Silicon Hive
US-based chip manufacturer Intel has announced the acquisition of Silicon Hive, an Intel Capital portfolio company.
This is aimed at bringing 'better still imaging and multimedia video processor technology, compilers and software tools to its growing Atom processor portfolio', a press release states.
Silicon Hive, which is headquartered in Dutch Eindhove, has around 65 staff worldwide and operates local offices in San Jose (USA), Tokyo (Japan), Seoul (South Korea), Bangalore (India), and Belgrade (Serbia). The company was spun out from Philips in 2007.
