PCB market back to normal again in August 2010

Turnover for PCB manufacturers in August 2010 remained at the level of the 2 previous months, reports the German industry association ZVEI - PCB and Electronic Systems.

This continues the recovery after the crisis, as - in long-term comparison - August figures are usually 7 - 8% lower than those recorded for July. Compared to the same month last year, sales increased by almost 40%. Figures for the first 8 months of 2010 were 34% higher than for the same period last year. Order intake began to stabilize in August, remained however slightly higher than that of August 2009. The general shortage of components has sensitised customers to plan well ahead. Reserve bookings were therefore partially reduced. Compared with the exceptionally high order intake in July 2010, figures halved in August. However, order intake was still 27% when compared to figures for 2009. This chart has a zoom function. The book-to-bill ratio as a medium-term indicator reached 0.96. Companies were unable to meet the increased demand with overtime or extra shifts. The number of employees thus increased by 10% compared to August 2009.
