Philips posts profit for 3Q/2009
Dutch electroniccs giant Royal Philips Electronics has posted a 3Q-profit, due to sales in the health-care segment.
Third-quarter net income amounted to €174 million, compared to €57 million euros in 3Q/2008. Sales amounted to €5.6 billion, representing a decline of 11% (from €6.3 billion).
Healthcare sales declined by4% on a comparable basis, as growth ar Customer Service and Home Healthcare Solutions was more than offset by declines at Clinical Care Systems, Imaging Systems and Healthcare Informatics. Consumer Lifestyle sales fell by 15% on a comparable basis, due to sales declines in all businesses except Health & Wellness. Lightning sales declined by 13% on a comparable basis, led by double-digit declines at Professional Luminaires, Lightning Electronics and Automotive Lightning.
