Hitachi rumoured to buy 5 listed units
Japan-based Hitachi is rumoured to make 5 subsidiaries wholly-owned.
It is said that Hitachi will place tender offers to buy outstanding shares for Hitachi Maxell (produces magnetic tapes and lithium-ion batteries), Hitachi Plant Technologies (flat panel making machines), Hitachi Information Systems (data-processing), Hitachi Software Engineering (software developer) and Hitachi Systems & Services (computer systems integrator). The move is said could be announced as early as next month.
Hitachi current stakes in each unit range from 51.2% to 68.1%, Reuters reports.
