STMicroelectronics eying Vietnam

Switzerland based chip maker ST Microelectronics Corp. has opened an office in Hanoi, Vietnam last week.
STMicroelectronics plans to supply products such as air conditioners, lightings, smartcards, real-time clocks, and digital equipment that is produced in Vietnam. The company also plans to support Vietnamese companies with suitable ideas and solutions to electronics product development and manufacturing.

A representative office in Ho Chi Minh City will also open next year, to be followed by a planned Technical Support and Development Center. STMicroelectronics estimated turnover in Vietnam will be US$1 billion. STMicroelectronics also considers a construction project with an integrated chip manufacturer in the country according to Thanhnien News.
