Spansion acquires Saifun
Flash memory maker Spansion acquires Israeli Saifun Semiconductor.
Saifun Semiconductor and Spansion has been cooperating for many years but Spansion has now decided to bring Saifun’s operations into its own business. Spansion, which earlier was a joint venture between AMD and Fujitsu, will now bring the IP developer Saifun Semiconductor into a new business segment. Saifun has licensed its MirrorBit to among others Macronix, NEC, Sony and Spansion and Spansion now believes that this technology may be suitable for NAND and DRAM as well as the NOR technology.
