Avnet-Memec acquires ESCO

Avnet-Memec aims to strengthen its business in Southern Europe and has now signed an agreement of acquiring specialist distributor ESCO Italiana. According to Purchasing.com ESCO Italiana, with sales of approximately $38 million, operates five offices in Italy and has distribution activities in Greece and Turkey. The company is focused on technical support and demand creation and has developed supplier relationships with US Analog, Maxim/Dallas, Wavecom, Varitronix, Epson, Seiko Instruments, CML, Protech Systems, Hitachi Displays, AKM, Leadtek and Digi International. "ESCO Italiana offers a good fit for Avnet Memec because it has a similar business approach and a performance-based culture", said Harley Feldberg, president of Avnet Electronics Marketing.
