Goodbye to manual processes

Take a look at Foundry Networks Inc.'s product portfolio and you'll see all sorts of switching, routing and Web traffic-management solutions for leading-edge networking systems.
But had you peeked behind the curtain about a year ago, you might have thought you'd stepped back in time to an age before automation. Then, Foundry's product life cycle management (PLM) processes and the dissemination of supplier information consisted of mounds of papers handed off to internal managers and contract manufacturers, and manually tracking activities in clunky old systems.

"We had manual operations and we had manual solutions," said Richard Bridges, Foundry's vice president of manufacturing.
