HTC to reduce Taiwanese workforce by 600

Smartphone maker HTC will lay off some 600 employees in Taiwan, taking effect in late October 2015.
The company will release 400 out of its 6'000 employees working at HTC's HQ in Taoyuan. The layoffs include R&D personnel, production line workers and backup personnel, according to a report in Digi Times.

HTC will also lay off 200 of its employees – mostly R&D staff – at its Xindian facility by the end of October, the report continues.
