February semi sales down MoM

European sales of semiconductors were USD 2.899 billion in February 2015, the European Semiconductor Industry Association (ESIA) reports.

The European semiconductor market reflected a 1.6% sequential decline from the level posted in January. ESIA noted that the results are in line with normal seasonal patterns, as February is historically a weak month for semiconductor sales. All growth figures represent a three-month rolling average. Looking at product segments, in Europe in February there was strong demand for discrete and optoelectronic semiconductor devices, for sensors and MOS microprocessor units. Worldwide semiconductor sales in February 2015 were USD 27.786 billion, down 2.7% compared to January 2015 and up 6.7% compared to February 2014. In February, exchange rate dynamics affected significantly the European sales picture, when comparing market growth in Euros and in Dollars. Measured in Euro, semiconductor sales were 2.454 billion Euros in February 2015, up 1.5% versus the previous month and an increase of 13.2% versus the same month a year ago
