Thrane & Thrane sign contract with Inmarsat

Danish based manufacturer of terminals for mobile satellite communication Thrane & Thrane develops new and innovative broadband solutions.

Thrane & Thrane has entered a BGAN Extension contract with Inmarsat, the leading provider of global mobile satellite communications. The contract covers an upgrade of the RAN (Radio Access Network) Satellite Access Stations to also handle the planned broadband services for maritime (FleetBroadband), aeronautical (SwiftBroadband) and land vehicular (BGAN) usage. The BGAN Extension contract includes specification and design work valued at USD 1.9 million, anticipated for completion in the first half of the calendar year 2006. The contract also includes Inmarsat's intention to implement and test the new FleetBroadband, SwiftBroadband and land vehicular BGAN services on the RAN Satellite Access Stations. This part of the contract has an estimated value of USD 6.6 million and is planned for completion in the first half of the calendar year 2007. As a result, the BGAN Extension contract has an overall estimated value to Thrane & Thrane of approximately USD 8.5 million equal to approximately DKK 54 million.
