Agilent and Cypress to cooperate

Agilent Technologies and Cypress Introduce LED-Based Optical Mouse Reference Design Kit.

Agilent Technologies Inc. and Cypress Semiconductor Corp. have introduced a combination Universal Serial Bus (USB)-PS/2 reference design kit for high-performance corded optical mice. The kit gives manufacturers the technical instructions and firmware needed to quickly implement a new optical mouse design. The optical mouse reference design is based on the Cypress CY7C63743A-PC microcontroller and the Agilent ADNS-3060 optical mouse sensor, which provide superior performance and tracking control compared with previous-generation, LED-based optical mice. “Agilent and Cypress have collaborated on several optical mouse reference design kits that address low-cost, wireless and performance market segments,” said Ed Keane, navigation sensors business manager for Agilent's Sensor Solutions Division. “Our latest joint reference design provides manufacturers with a cost-effective, easy-to-use platform for accelerated development of high-performance corded optical mice.” “Joining forces with Agilent has once again enabled the teaming of two best-of-breed technologies to create a robust solution for our OEM customers,” said Trevor Davis, director of marketing for the Personal Communications Division at Cypress. “The kit includes everything a mouse manufacturer needs to rapidly create a new class of higher-performance, LED-based optical mice for desktop and notebook PCs.”
