Chip sales hit record in 2005

The sales of semiconductors reached record levels in 2005.
The global chip sales went down 2.2 percent in december but for the whole 2005 the chip sales went up 6.8 percent compared to 2004 to reach the record level at $227.5 billion.

The outlook for 2006 is according to SIA that the strong demand is expected to sustain.
