SMP installs HITACHI G5 mounter

Operating in the Orlando, Florida SMP Electronics facility, the G5 will be equipped with new self-loading SL component feeders and two high-speed placement heads. “We expect the installation of this G5 system to boost our productivity by 30 to 50 percent,” states Haroon Abass, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, “Our older placement systems can’t meet the challenges posed by 603 and smaller components that our new product requires. I’m pleased to say that the new G5 will be able to handle the full range of components that we use in our products.” He added, “Thanks to the increase in production that we will be able to achieve with this machine, it will eliminate the necessity of investing in an additional manufacturing line.”
