Sony Lund to cut less jobs than expected

Sony Mobile's plant in Lund will layoff fewer workers than expected following labor negotiations.

A spokesperson for the company's union told local newspaper, Sydsvenskan, that they were pleased with the result of labor negotiations which enabled a new consultancy company to be established, in turn saving multiple jobs. The consultancy company will work with Sony but is also open to business from external companies according to the media report. Sony originally announced that approximately 650 people would lose their jobs in the company restructure, however only 400 people will leave the company following the negotiations. Employees who lose their jobs will receive up to 25 months salary compensation according to Sydsvenskan.
