Top smartphone vendors in 1Q/2012

Analyst company Gartner has compiled a list on how many mobile phones each manufacturer sold worldwide and its market share during the first quarter of 2012. Samsung is top, Nokia close behind, Apple comes in third.
  1. Samsung Electronics — 86.6 million units, 20.7%
  2. Nokia — 83.2 million units, 19.8%
  3. Apple — 33.1 million units, 7.9%
  4. ZTE — 17.4 million units, 4.2%
  5. LG Electronics — 14.7 million units, 3.5%
  6. Huawei Technology — 10.8 million units, 2.6%
  7. Research in Motion — 9.9 million units, 2.4%
  8. Motorola Mobility (now part of Google) — 8.4 million units, 2.0%
  9. Sony — 7.9 million units, 1.9%
  10. HTC — 7.7 million units, 1.8%
  11. The 'also-ran' category — 139 million units, 33.3%
