Report: Samsung reduces DSC orders to Altek

Samsung Electronics has reportedly reduced orders for digital still camera models placed with Altek.
According to DigiTimes, citing “sources from upstream supply chain”, Samsung Electronics has withdrawn orders for spring season DSC models.

The source said that due to Samsung's own upstream component partners in China, the cost benefit was not high enough for Samsung to outsource DSC orders to outside vendors.

Rumors are circulating that Samsung is considering reducing its outsourcing partners from three to one in the future. In 2011, Samsung had three outsourcing partners – Ability Enterprise, Altek and Sanyo Electric.
