Vestas restructures; 2'300 layoffs
Denmark-based Vestas has announced restructuring measures that will affect 2'300 employees.
Vestas aims at reducing fixed costs by more than EUR 150 million, with measures taking full effect by the end of 2012.
The streamlining of support functions and closure of factories - aimed at aligning capacity with market demand - will result in 2'335 redundancies, the company announced.
In addition to the planned dismissal of 2'335 employees over the next few months, Vestas is also monitoring the US market. Should the current U.S. PTC scheme not extended, a further 1'600 redundancies in US facilities will be considered.
