REACH – candidates list increases to 73 substances

REACH - list of candidates increases to 73 substances, a further 21 substances planned for Annex XIV; notification obligation for SVHCs.

The FBDi indicates that the candidate list of the REACH Regulation has now been increased to 73 substances. They are now subject to an assessment of whether or not they should be included in Annex XIV (list of substances subject to authorization). More substances are subject of serious discussions, including Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP), Diarsenpentaoxid, lead chromate, lead sulfochromate yellow (CI Pigment Yellow 34), chromate molybdate (CI Pigment Red 104), tris (2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP), 2,4-dinitrotoluene (2,4-DNT). They are currently subject to review by the EU Commission. A decision is expected shortly. With the possible inclusion in Annex XIV, a gradual ban is following. Substance-specific transition periods are provided. From 2015, use of these substances in the EU would permitted without prior approval. Exceptions are not permissible.
