PCB market is booming in July 2011
Sales figures for German PCB manufacturers in July reached the fourth-best value of the last ten years, reports ZVEI PCB and Electronic Systems.
This marks an 0.8% increase compared to last year's figures. For the first seven months of the year PCB manufacturers reported a 15.5% increase (YoY). To accommodate the increased demand companies have significantly increased capacity over the past 20 months.
The order intake was 2.7% below the long-term average but is also the fourth-best value of the last decade. Compared to July 2010, order numbers dropped 45.6% and YTD order numbers dropped 26.1%. The drop was caused by an extremely high order intake in the wake of the financial crisis in 2008/2009. Companies - anticipating supply shortages - pre-ordered and these orders were later postponed. The existing backlog is now being processed.
