New life for Hitachi Žatec

The Hitachi manufacturing location in Žatec (Czech Republic) has apparently received a new lease on life.
Hitachi Automotive Systems Czech, a subsidiary of a Japanese automotive producer, is reportedly planning to start production in Žatec again.

About 4 years ago, Hitachi Žatec launched production of LCD TVs, but the facility was shut down in March 2009 due to deteriorating order inflow. All 800 staff were laid off.

Now, the facility is to see production again, but not for LCD TVs, but rather automotive parts. The production - which is said to start in 1Q/ 2012 is to create around 220 new jobs for the region.
