IMI looking for European manufacturing base
Philipines-based Integrated Microelectronics Inc. (IMI), Ayala's electronics unit, is pushing ahead with plans to open a manufacturing location in Europe.
The plan is scheduled for this year and scope and volume of the deal is 'significant'. Company management will be looking to acquire a company ' somewhere in Eastern Europe'.
The Asian company currently only operates a sales office out of Europe. This is based in Sheyern (near Munich, Germany). "All we have is a sales office. I want to have a manufacturing and engineering footprint in Europe," IMI President and CEO Arthur R. Tan told Philippine newspaper BusinessWorld in an interview.
