New Foxconn factory starts production

A new Foxconn production facility in the Central Chinese province of Henan has started production yesterday. The USD 100 million facility is owned by Futaihua Precision Electronics (Zhengzhou) a Foxconn subsidiary.

The facility is to produce primarily Apple’s iPhone, reports Chinese Xinhua (referring to an agreement between Foxconn and the government of Zhengzhou. The EMS-giant temporarily rented a workshop for some 500 employees from the Zhengzhou city government. The construction of the company's permanent manufacturing facility—named Pingzhen (peace & calm)—is scheduled to start on August 20, with production start scheduled for mid next year. Daily capacity is said to reach 200’000 with 200’000 employees working at the new facility, the report continues. © Xinhua
