Reports suggest that about EUR 600,000 false bacnknotes have been taken out of circulation—and that in Austria alone. The number of false banknotes—in various values—increased dramatically in 2009 and reached 860'000. In value terms: around EUR 50 million. Most popular are 'the small bills' of EUR 20 and EUR 50. Austria-based Cash Analysing Technologies has developed a gadget that is said to help detect false money easily. It has been certified with a 100% detection seal by the European Central Bank. It was specifically designed for hotels, bars, restaurants, etc. The EMS-provider Seidel electronics is producing the Cash Analyser 2.0 at their manufacturing location in Deutschlandberg. "Made in Austria ensures the highest safety and quality standards. Thus we are able to agree a guarantee for 24 month for our devices", says the company.
