AKG: mass production moves to Asia
The Austria-based company AKG plans to move its mass production to Asia.
"The relocation of the manufacturing of low-priced mass products to Asia will be accelerated. This will secure the Vienna location as well as the innovativeness of the company", the Wirtschaftsblatt reports. The company, which is part of Harman International Industries, is set to cut about 100 jobs at the Vienna location.
The company plans to focus on R&D activities and concentrate the production of its premium products in Vienna. In addition, other areas - such as marketing and finance - will also stay in Vienna. The location is set to have 170 staff in the future.
