Philips to close facility in Dreux, France

Dutch Royal Philips is to close its TV production facility in Dreux, France.

The shutdown of the TV production in Dreux means that 212 staff will be laid off. It seems that only a small distribution team (around 5 people) will remain. Staff levels in Dreux have greatly decreased in recent years and bankrupt LG Philips Displays has already closed its facility earlier this year. With this move, Philips seems to have closed all TV production in Western Europe - with the closure of its production facilities in Bruges and Dreux. The company now only operates its own TV production in Hungary, Brazil and Argentina.
