Russian Government plans to increase import duties on LCD TV’s

The plan is to increase custom duties for the import of LCD TV sets into Russia from today’s 10% to 15%. This decision is to help domestic producers of LCD TV sets in Russia. A cluster if domestic producers hat been espablished around Kaliningrad in recent years, where the television assembly business has grown. However, this decision might prove too late and inefficient, as the Russion government hat lowered the import duty on components last autumn to attract larger companies from abroad.
