evertiq chart: Nearly 6000 EMS jobs gone in Europe this year so far

According to a study of the news that evertiq has published so far in 2009, 5997 jobs have gone in Europe, within several of the Electronics Manufacturing Service plants.

Elcoteq announced in January that it is cutting down its global workforce by 5000 jobs. Jabil Circuit announced 3000 cut backs worldwide and TT Electronics announced 700 cut backs worldwide. Some of those figures are included in the chart below. This chart is created by evertiq. Even though this does not include the entire EMS layoffs that have been made this year so far, it clearly gives a hint of how the market situation looks like in Europe at the moment. No temporary layoffs, short work or temporary staff layoffs have been included. The numbers mentioned above are only numbers that evertiq has published betwen January 1 and February 11, 2009. Both white and blue collar workers are included.
